Who Uses Firefox?

March 21st, 2006 · 1 Comment

Working with a client today who had an error on their html that wasn't visible to them because they are using Internet Explorer.  When I told him that I could see the error because I was on Firefox, not IE, he asked 'Who uses that browser?'.

Now granted, I think the latest stats are that 80% of the population is still using IE.  But I'm not.  On my PC and on my Mac, Firefox blocks viruses, spyware, and popup ads, gives me stronger security levels and just a better interface.

IE fixes errors for me, great.  So when I see a webpage on IE and another user looks at it elsewhere it looks completely different.  I can't predict who will be looking at a website or what browser they're using, I'd rather be prepared for the errors then have them automagically fixed for me.

As far as security and popups go, I used to be horribly inundated with crud and so were my kids.  Now, we all use Firefox and the machines in the house are just cleaner, no where near the level of spam, adware and such.

So, who uses Firefox?  Me, that's who.

You might want to have a look at browsehappy.com, where you can find personal anecdotes and information about browsers that are safer to use than MSIE.
