Where’s My Site?

August 17th, 2007 · No Comments

Have you ever had the sudden realization that the reason you aren't getting emails is that your site is down? Or have you been out on an errand and had a client call you to tell you the site is down?

I've got the solution

  1. Signup for a new Gmail account just for site notifications
  2. Sign up for SiteUpTime
  3. Sign up for eNotifyMe.com
  4. Setup your notification email that you use on SiteUpTime to send notifications to the Gmail account you setup
  5. Forward your email from the Gmail account to the eNotifyMe email address they gave you
  6. Setup your eNotifyMe rules so that any email that is sent from SiteUpTime calls you or sends you an SMS Message to your cell phone

SiteUpTime has a professional account that will send you SMS messages as well, but that's $10. For the same amount of
money, you can have the ability to have your email sent to any phone or SMS according to certain rules, in
addition to the ability to have a server DOWN notification. Have your clients email the notification
email with the subject line "URGENT" and have it send you a notification on your cell.

There are so many ways to setup rules, you can even have certain emails NOT send a message
to you. Just for those clients with a happy URGENT finger or two.
