Waiter, there’s a Limewire in my iTunes

August 29th, 2006 · No Comments

After reinstalling iTunes the other day I noticed a new playlist - Owner's Limewire Tunes. Where the heck did this come from and how do I get it out of here?

What is it? Its a way for people to share music within a nearby network. iTunes handles the whole thing. You can elect to share your music with others
and they can do the same. Its a 'listen only' concept, in otherwords they can't download your music.

How to turn it off? In iTunes Preferences, click on Sharing. Then click on Look for shared music to find a nearby person who is willing to share their music. If you turn that off, the playlist will go away. If you want to share your music, click the Share my music setting. You have the option of deciding how much to share, you can require a password.

I'm an only child, I'm not really good at sharing, especially my music.
