Do you have an elevator speech? Does it mean anything at all to you or is it just a blurb you wrote after reading a book, taking a class or attending a conference?
When a stranger asks you what you do, what is your answer? Do you give them a one word answer? I'm a coach, a dentist, a consultant, a web designer, a whatever? Do they smile and toddle off? Or do you hit them smack between the eyes with a well thought out statement of what you do and how it can help them?
If you answer the question with a blah, blah, blah and their eyes glaze over, you aren't taking advantage of the opportunity. Is what you do a secret or are you just trying to keep it one? If you have a powerful statement, one without fluff and circumstance, one that reaches into the pain of their problem, how could they do anything but say yes to you and your service or product?
Don't keep what you do a secret, go out and tell a thousand people. If you told one thousand people what you do, don't you think you could get one to say yes?
