Day 5 and still can't go home. Things are improving all around San Diego but our lungs must look like dirty ashtrays. Yes, we still have a home, but we can't get to it. Fires still rage - most are 10% to 20% contained. We had air support yesterday. Huge planes that could drop gallons of water at a time. They apparently were available as of Monday but couldn't fly because of the winds and a lack of CDF personnel to spot on each plane. Now that they're flying, its too little too late for all the lost homes, over 1000 in San Diego. So glad they were able to save Jeffrey Katzenberger's house by spraying it with retardant. My mother was able to save her own home by leaving the sprinklers on all night. No retardant in sight. Not a slam against the fireman, just the head honchos. It always seems to be 'we learned a lot from this', Katrina, 2003 fires, you fill in the this. No excuses, we screwed up. We didn't learn anything. Thousands have lost their homes.
