We all hate to say no. So we promise what we think someone wants to hear. We promise the moon and the stars and the sun. Then, when its delivery time, we make excuses. We say the dog ate the specifications, the delivery van broke down, anything but own up to the fact that we screwed up.
But, in our defense, heaven knows we need a defense, our bosses and our spouses and our customers all want more. They want it yesterday, they want more of it and much more than we can possibly deliver. So how do we stop overpromising and underdelivering? How about underpromising and overdelivering? Will they take less if we deliver it when we say we will?
