What I've noticed is that I can categorize people who are looking for help with their business similar to people who look for help
with their children.
1. I don't want any help, thanks, I'll do it all myself unless one of my children needs specific help. They don't want any babysitters, no live in help, no one at all, no neighbors to take a way ward child in.
2. People who need an occasional hand. They'll hire a babysitter, drop the kid at school, have an after school program, but they want responsibility to fall on them for most of the time.
3. The nanny type. Don't get me wrong, if you work, a nanny can be a godsend. But you are entrusting your child to someone who will make decisions based on your original guidelines. You won't be there when little Johnny makes a mess. So you have to ensure that this person will be able to care for your child as well as you.
Think about it – same thing with your business.
1. You don't delegate at all. You may not trust people with your business. You may think you're the only one who knows it well enough. Bottom line is that you may be the bottle neck to getting a bigger business.
2. You hire someone to do the work. But it is never a hand over. You're always in the background giving specific instructions where
necessary. You delegate but you don't abdicate. You trust the ones you hire, but you aren't willing to have someone else be in charge.
3. You're perfectly willing to hand over all decision making to someone else. You take a back seat and prefer it that way.The people you hire have an interest in the business.
So are you the solo parent, the practicing parent or
the delegating parent of your business?
